Windows 10 no internet access but internet works
After updating the Windows operating system, many users complained about facing “Windows 10 no internet access but internet works” issue. The image below shows the error message which users normally gets.
You get this error message but strange are that you can still browse the internet as fine. However, other stuffs such as accessing Microsoft Store don’t works.
Reset the TCP/IP protocol stack in Windows
- Simultaneously press Windows and X button and choose Command Prompt (Admin). Accept the UAC prompt that comes next. The command prompt is open now.
- In the command prompt, type “nets hint ip reset c:\resetlog.txt and press ENTER.
- Restart the PC once again

Another Possible Fix for Windows 10 no internet access but internet works issue
In the run regedit, go to key “[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\NlaSvc\Parameters\Internet]”
Search for “EnableActiveProbing”
Check for the value. If it is 0 then make it 1 and reboot.
In case if the entry is 1 then make it 0 and reboot.
On the other hand, disabling and re-enabling the Ethernet adapter some time also works.
Fix Network Adapter Issue
It is better that you first update the network adapter driver and then follow the steps to diagnose any other issues with it.
- Go to Start menu and type “View Network Connections”
- Right click on “active network adapter”
- Click on “Diagnose” and wait until the troubleshoot get finished
The above steps will fix the issues related to use of static IP address instead of DHCP. If you want to check it manually then follow the below steps.
- Click on “Start” > Settings > click on “Network and Internet”
- Go to “Change your Network Settings” and click on “change adapter option”.
A new window appears that shows the list of network adapters in your work-station. Select the one which is active and right click to choose properties.
The Ethernet and wi-fi properties appear on the screen. Click on “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click on properties button
In the next step, you can either do any of these steps. Use the correct static IP info or select the “Obtain IP address automatically” option to obtain DNS server address automatically. This will hopefully fix the problem.
Disable Antivirus Firewalls
Firewalls can block bad traffic and avoid unnecessary access to the network. However, in some cases then cause network connectivity issues because they deal with network access at an administrative level.
In order to check whether it internet access issue, you have to temporarily switch off. Different anti-virus have different ways to disable firewall hence you can search for it Online.
