Windows 10, Chrome, Safari hacked in Tianfu Cup 2020 Annual Hackathon

According to report, Hackers (White Hackers) this year in “Tianfu Cup” – annual Hackathon held in China, have compete to find new and unique ways to hack popular software and platforms including iOS 14, Windows 10, Google Chrome, Safari, Adobe PDF Reader and many other popular software.

For those who are not aware, “Tianfu Cup” is a prestigious annual “Hackathon” held each year in China where young hackers (Young White hackers) participates to find new and unique ways to hack specific software packages.

The purpose of “Hackathon” is to create functioning software or hardware by end of event focuses on programming language, operating System, application, API or the subject and demographic group of the programmers.

This year in “Tianfu Cup” held in China, 15 teams participated and all of them were given three attempts of five minutes each to hack into selected targeted using a new or original hacking exploit.

Interestingly, all of them were successful in exploiting the bug on particular software in order to hack into software including Google Chrome and others. Since, all the successful exploits are reported to software providers and some software providers have already mentioned that the issue will be patch and update in coming days.

Furthermore, The 360 ESG Vulnerability Research Institute received $750,000 of prize money in the “TFC (Tianfu Cup) 2020”. Interestingly, the same team had won last year as well, while “AntFinacial lightyear Security Lab” was in second position and security research “Pang” at third position in the competition.

  • QEMU (emulator & virtualizer)
  • Windows 10 v2004 (April 2020 edition)
  • Ubuntu
  • Chrome
  • Safari
  • Firefox
  • TP-Link and ASUS router firmware
